A Ministry Resource that Supports Haitian Relief

Dear EPC Women,
One of the purposes of EPC Women In Ministry is to make you aware of special opportunities that arise that allow us to participate in God's purposes in the world. The earthquake in Haiti and the extreme need for resources - both immediate and long-term- have made us aware of many ministries and agencies and their involvement in providing both care and the message of the Gospel throughout Haiti.
May I invite you to consider Barb Roberts' kind invitation to be a part of God's work in Haiti in a practical way - and a way that equips you to minister more effectively where God has placed you.
- Jacky Gatliff, Director, EPC Women In Ministry

An Invitation.....
My name is Barb Roberts, (Director, Caring Ministries, Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, Englewood, CO) and I have recently had my book published by NavPress - "Helping Those Who Hurt: A Handbook for Caring and Crisis."

I would like to invite you to be part of a promotion in conjunction with NavPress in which you receive practical help for yourself and your church leadership and at the same time contribute to Food for the Hungry efforts in Haiti. Through the month of March, for all of my books purchased through NavPress, I will donate one-half of my royalties to Food for the Hungry in Haiti.
Following is a word from Rev. Dr. Marty Martin, Executive Pastor of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church and Chairman of the Board
of Directors of Food For the Hungry, Inc.:
"One of my most significant ministry partnerships over the years has been with a woman named Barb Roberts, Director of Caring Ministries at Cherry Creek, who has written a useful book for those desiring to extend the love of Christ to people in need.

"Helping Those Who Hurt" is an outstanding practical guide for anyone in Christian ministry. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said "blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." The rest of the gospels and the epistles make it clear that comforting those who mourn (or "hurt" in countless other ways) is something the Lord primarily does through His people.
Barb Roberts has been fully engaged in the caring, healing, reconciling ministry of Christ to the hurting for decades. This book distills the wisdom she has gained through Biblical reflection, prayer, trial and error and mentoring others over a long and fruitful ministry. I can't overstate the value of this little book for pastors, church leaders and lay care-givers who take seriously Jesus' command to love others as He has loved us. Would you consider purchasing this book for your leadership and/or adding it to your library and, in doing so, helping Food for the Hungry in their vitally needed ministry to the poorest of the poor?"
